Figure 1 shows the students’ scores ranges that have entered in the Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Program as well as their ranks on a countrywide basis in the last 5 years.

Generally, the students ranked between 15000 and 37000 enroll in the Metallurgical and Materials engineering department of ITU (Figure 1). In other words, students who are in the 0.75 - 2 % range in the ÖSYM examination have a chance to be accepted to the Department. The Department limits the number of students to 110 as determined by OSYM and there is also place for approximately 10 students transferred from other departments or universities. Table 1, summarizes Enrollment Trends for Past Five Academic Years .
